Using menus along the top of Photoshop click on \u2018Select\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From drop down menu click on \u2018Colour Range\u2019 \u2013 New window appears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Use \u2018Sampled Colours\u2019. Also click on \u2018Selection Preview\u2019 at the bottom of this window and from the drop down click on \u2018Black Matte\u2019. (This will help when isolating the telephone box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Your curser will turn into an eye-dropper. Start by clicking somewhere on the telephone box and while holding down the \u2018Shift Key\u2019 click on other areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also tick \u2018Localise Colour Cluster. Adjust the \u2018Fuzziness and Range sliders accordingly to get the best image of just the phone box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now click on \u2018Invert\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Click OK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You should now have a colour image with \u2018marching ants\u2019 around the phone box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We now need to turn the rest of the image into Black and White.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the bottom of the layers pallet there is a circle icon (half white, half black) Click on this and from the menu click on \u2018Black & White.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This will now give you a new adjustment layer, with a layer mask and turn the image into monochrome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Using a small brush and black selected as your colour paint over any area of the phone box that was missed during selection. Switch to white and paint over the \u2018No Entry\u2019 sign to change this to Black and White. Any areas where you make a mistake can be corrected using smaller brushes and painting with either Black or White until you end up with a black and white image with a red telephone box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
