Club Competitions.
Every year as part of the Camera Club season, we hold numerous competitions both in Prints and Digital Projected Images (DPI\u2019s), which are open to all club members to enter. All of the competitions are \u201cOpen\u201d subject, where you can enter any type of image, e.g.: colour, monochrome (black & white) or creative (i.e. not reality), as long as they comply with the competition rules. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nantwich Camera Club publishes the highest scoring images submitted by its members into club competitions. Club members also have the opportunity to show other examples of their photography in the Members Gallery section of our website. All images shown are published on the strict understanding that these works are original and created solely by the submitting member. Nantwich Camera Club does not assume responsibility for any instances of plagiarism or copyright infringement. Should any member\u2019s image be found to have been passed off as their own when it is, in fact, someone else’s work, the responsibility lies with the submitting member. Nantwich Camera Club reserves the right to disqualify and take appropriate actions against members found in violation of this policy. By participating, members agree to these terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To read the rules of club competitions, please click on this link<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Procedure for the Preparation of Projected Images for Club Competitions click here<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Inter<\/em><\/strong>-Club Competitions From the start of the 2018-2019 season, all competition entries are to be submitted using a new system called, “PhotoEntry”.Guidelines have been produced covering the key areas of enrolment, logging on, entering a competition and handling problems.Click on the links below to read these guidelines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the end of each competition season, trophies are awarded to the winners of each competition section, Print Photographer, Slide\/Projected Image Photographer and Clubman. The Clubman trophy is awarded to the photographer who has achieved the highest combined score in both the Print and PI competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Click on this link<\/a> to view the trophy winners list.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n On Tuesday evening, our penultimate evening of the season, we held our annual \u201cSet Subject \u201c competition, Macro or Close up. Members were invited to enter 3 digital projected images taken in the last 2 years. Long time member and former L & CPU judge David Foster had been asked to judge this for us. There were 34 entries from 12 members. David gave constructive critique on each image retaining 8 for further consideration. Linda very kindly stepped in when our scheduled judge was unable to make it. She said she had had a quick look through the prints on arrival and was very impressed with both the standard of the images and the mounting, and that it was a pleasure to see that we were still producing prints. After a short break for refreshments Linda went through the 28 Projected Digital Images entered by 14 members. Our judge for the competition was Graham Currey who had kindly stepped in as the judge originally booked had been unable to travel for medical reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Graham remarked that he knew most of Alsager\u2019s images as he had seen them recently, but that he could not remember what he had said about them or the scores so they may well be quite different tonight!<\/p>\n\n\n\n The judging began with the 30 prints, 15 from each club. Graham gave comprehensive and constructive critique on each of the 30 prints, retaining several for further consideration, subsequently awarding points as follows:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were 18 prints from 9 members. Linda gave detailed and constructive critique on each image pointing out what she particularly liked about each as well as making suggestions as to how, in her opinion. they might be improved. She also explained how these improvements could be achieved. She was particularly keen to emphasise how it is often small details that prevent images from getting higher marks, blown out highlights and sensor spots being some examples. She retained 7 for further consideration subsequently awarding marks as follows:-
